This tutorial was written by Laura on May 20, 2006. You may link to it through your groups and print it out for future use, but NOTHING, including my ideas, are to be removed from this site. This tutorial assumes that you have a reasonable knowledge of PSP and working with layers. I used the incredible artwork of Anita Star. Please support this talented artist by visiting her site.

You will need the following supplies:

Tube and image of your choice

Kels Frame 45 ~ place in your frame folder. Please visit Kels’ site Wild With Abandon for fun tutorials and goodies!

dsb flux

Xero Improver

Eye Candy Impact

1. Open your image and duplicate it by hitting “shift D” on your keyboard. Crop your image and resize if needed. Layers/promote to layer.

 2. Effects/xero/improver with the default settings.

 3. Image/picture frame and scroll for Kels frame 45. Hit ok.

 4. Make your image layer the active layer on your palette. Grab your selection tool set on rectangle and draw rectangles around the areas that you would like black and white, holding down the shift key to select more than one area at a time:

 5. Colors/colorize and type in 0 for both hue and saturation. Keep selected.

 6. Layers/new raster layer. Copy your texture and paste it into the selection (shift/control L). Change the blend mode to soft light or one that works for you and play with the opacity levels on your layer palette. Deselect.

 7. Make your picture frame layer active and give it the following drop shadow:

 8. Image/add borders with a width of 3, color black. Copy.

 9. Open a new image, 600x600 and flood fill with white to give you a better idea of what you’re working with.

 10. Paste your framed image as a new layer and place at the top of your canvas.

 11. Copy and paste your “main” tube as a new layer and place to your liking.

 12. Duplicate your framed graphic TWICE and on the bottom layer, not the copies, go to Effects/plugins/ Eye candy Impact/perspective shadow. Under settings, choose “Reflect in front – sharp.” In the preview window, use the nodes to stretch the shadow. I moved the outer nodes out as indicated by the black arrow, and then pulled UP on the node in the middle as shown by the red arrow:

 13. On the middle layer of your graphic, go to effects/plugins/dsb flux/linear transmission with the following settings:

 14. Give the middle layer the same drop shadow as above.

 15. Give the top layer of your framed image the following drop shadow:

 16. Give your main tube a drop shadow of choice. I used Loka’s 3d but any will do!

 17. Add your text in your favorite font. I used 04b_09 with both vector and anitalias checked. Layers/convert to raster layer.

 18. Duplicate your text. On the bottom layer, NOT the copy, go back to Eye Candy Impact perspective shadow. I repeated the same effect but dragged the nodes to my liking so that the shadow is in the back. (This is optional; I’m just hooked on this filter at the moment.)

 19. On your top layer, give the text a drop shadow of choice.

 20. Add the appropriate copyright information and your watermark so that you both receive credit for your work.

Crop your image and resize if needed. Save as a jpg or png file and you’re finished! I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, feel free to email or leave me a note on the forum. Thanks for stopping by!
