This tutorial was written by me on December 30, 2005. You may link to it through your groups and print it out for future use, but NOTHING, including my ideas, are to be removed from this site. I am assuming that you have a reasonable knowledge of PSP and working with layers. I used the awesome artwork of Devious Elite. Please support this talented artist by visiting the site. You will need the following supplies: Graphic/tube of choice Font of your choice; I used Copper Alt Caps Expert
Open your graphic and tubes in PSP and let’s begin!
1. Right click on your layer palette and promote your graphic to a layer. (You may need to go to Colors/increase color depth to 16 million colors first in order to do this.) Crop and resize it to your liking. 2. Duplicate your layer by right clicking on your layer palette. On the top layer, go to Effects/plugins/Xero Bad Dream with the following settings:
3. Change the blend mode on your layer palette to soft light and reduce the opacity to 50 or so. 4. Hit “Control A” on your keyboard to select all. Layers/new raster layer and flood fill with black. 5. Selections/modify contract by 30 and then hit delete on your keyboard. 6. Selections/invert. Go to effects/plugins/VM instant art/light lines with the following settings:
7. Deselect by hitting “control D” on your keyboard. Change the blend mode of your lightlines layer to difference. 8. Image/add borders with size 1, color black. 9. Image/add borders with size 20, color white. Hit “control C” to make a copy. 10. Open a new transparent 700x500 image. You can resize later! Flood fill with white to give you a better idea of what you’re working with. Paste your graphic as a new layer and give it the following drop shadow:
11. Duplicate this layer. On the bottom layer, not the copy, go to Effects/plugins/Mura’s Meister Copies with the following settings:
12. Resize by 80 percent with “resize all layers” unchecked. Give it the same drop shadow as above. 13. Open the a dozi words; I noticed that some of them are misspelled so I didn’t use those. Trace around one of them with your lasso tool and then click in the middle to select it. Hit “control C” and then paste it as a new layer onto your canvas. Resize by 30 percent and place to your liking. 14. Add a tube if you wish and give it a drop shadow. I used Loka’s 3d. 15. Add your text in a font of your choice. I used Copper Alt Caps Expert and gave it the same drop shadow. 16. Add the appropriate copyright information and your watermark so that you both receive credit for your work. Crop your image and save as a jpeg and you’re finished! I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions feel free to email me or leave a note on the forum.
